Spray Foam
Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) insulation is among the most efficient, cutting edge technologies in building better homes today.
What is it?
SPF comes in different forms, but they are all composed of a complex solution (contining such chemicals and fire retardants, catalysts and others), highly reactive isocyanate, and a blowing agent. In some cases the blowing agent may just be water, while other products use high-R value compounds.
How Does it Work?
The components listed above are combined and sprayed into wall and roof cavities while they react. In a few seconds the compound expands from 30 to 120 times its size, immediately filling any and all cracks and crevices. After a few more minutes, the compound cures and hardens, and becomes an inert plastic.
